Raising Readers has been initiated to promote literacy in early childhood by sharing the joy of stories and poetry.
The programs are intended to support literacy learning by acting as a supporting bridge between home, school, and library.
Working together with families, the Raising Reader’s mission is to provide the enthusiasm, knowledge and environment in which to spark and sustain a child’s interest in becoming a reader for life.
Raising Readers believes that every child has a right to become a reader. It is our mandate to assist all children, including those with economic or social barriers, in that goal.
Raising Readers has a volunteer board of directors who represent our diverse community and who are committed to providing quality literacy programs for children.
Our programs are designed by early childhood educators, and the volunteer board of directors is represented by a broad section of the community including: law, education, business, arts, social work, and child health. |
